First week at the English Institute was a success. We have a great group of interns who are doing an awesome job teaching and getting the kids settled in. The only drawback is our LONG list of kids on the waiting list (kids who want to come to English school, but came to sign up after the classes were already full) because we are already maxed out on space and teachers. This only means one thing: the kids of Monte Cristi are HUNGRY for English ... if you are reading this and ever thought about coming down to do something like this- you are needed!!!
Here is one of our interns, Meghan, teaching the English pronunciation of the alphabet to one of her English 1 classes. We have 3 classes of English 1 (20+ in each class) and 2 classes of English 2.
One of the English 1 classes in session ... something must be going right if most of them were still focused on the teachers while we were in the room to take this picture!
Joella having fun with her English 2 class (2nd year English students). The first week of class for our returner students was a review of everything they learning last year. We were plesantly surprised at how much they remembered.
